I get this question all the time
0:02
My brand new site is three weeks old. I publish several keyword golden ratio compliant keywords and most of them are ranked in the top 20
0:11
How can I move up in the search? Do you have any tips for me? I'll give you five tips in this video
0:16
Plus, I'm going to give you a quick heads up on automating the KGR and speeding up the process
0:22
So you've been trying to rank on Google with the keyword golden ratio, but you can't seem to rank as well as you hoped
0:28
like in the top 10 or even number one. Since SEO has so many moving parts
0:33
it's kind of hard to figure out. If you're unfamiliar with the KGR
0:37
it's the supply and demand for keywords. You can rank your keywords without backlinks
0:42
and usually pretty quickly. The KGR is the number of Google search results
0:46
that have the keyword phrase in the title divided by the monthly search volume
0:51
where the search volume is under 250. And if your KGR value is under 0.25
0:56
then you should rank in the top 50 or so, whenever your page is indexed
1:00
If you aren't ranking, here's a few things to keep in mind and maybe to try out
1:05
So number one is to be patient. As time goes on in my experience the rankings will move up a little bit even if you don do anything to build links So I wouldn worry about it too much if it been three weeks and nothing happening
1:20
Three weeks is a super short amount of time. I know when my sites were about three weeks old, it was a complete mess
1:26
I really didn't know what I was doing. And by the way, this is kind of a long-term game here
1:32
So your patience will be rewarded. So one thing you could try, number two here is engage with a community
1:39
The most important tip here is to not do more research, but to engage with the community
1:46
We can think about engagement in terms of this. If you could increase the engagement, you can potentially get more site traffic
1:53
which will hopefully lead to earning money. So that's the goal here
1:56
And when you're trying to get traffic to your site and improve your rankings
2:00
engaging in the community is a key component. Finding blogs that are in your niche that aren't really direct competition
2:08
Those are great ones to look at. You can go and comment on those blogs, maybe get some back links just in the comments, or you can actually reach out and build a connection, actually network with the blogger over there
2:21
And maybe it turns into a deeper relationship Maybe it turns into a site that you can guest post to get links on Number three you can add more content or improve the existing content This is probably going to be the most effective thing to do in the short term
2:36
You can use the RPM method or FAQ method to help get your creative juices flowing
2:43
Both are foolproof outlining methods, and you can use the outlines to write the content
2:47
yourself or hire a writer. And if you add more content, you can get at least three benefits
2:53
fits. You can help the visitor get more information. Number two, the post may rank for more long-tail
2:59
keywords, thus bringing in more traffic even if the rankings don't move yet. And number three
3:05
it's assigned to Google that the content is being appended and updated and improved over time
3:11
Longer blog posts tend to rank higher in the search results. The fourth thing you could do is promote
3:16
the post and get backlinks. So I alluded to that a minute ago. Backlinks are a good thing to have
3:21
and you should build backlinks to your site if you're less patient and you want to sort of pour a little gas on the fire
3:29
The backlinks will send good signals, positive ranking signs to Google so that you probably will rank faster
3:36
You can reach out to people that you found when you were commenting on blogs for example and you can ask them for a guest post And if you having trouble with guest posting you not alone but keep at it and you find that it not impossible
3:49
I find people all the time that had a little trouble with guest posting
3:53
and once they put themselves out there and emailed a few more people, got a few more rejections
3:58
they started getting some acceptances, and they were able to publish guest posts
4:02
Next, if you're savvy with video and YouTube, you can publish a video on the same topic
4:07
then you can link to your blog post in the description of that video
4:11
You can also embed the video in your blog post. There's some good energy going back and forth there
4:16
YouTube is the second largest search engine, so you might get organic search traffic within Google
4:23
or you can get Google traffic to the video where people just search on Google
4:28
and then they're pointed towards your video. So it's a good way to cross-promote the content
4:32
and Google, I imagine, has a pretty good understanding of the search intent
4:36
on both sides. So right now you should watch the next video about automating the KGR process
4:43
By the way, if you haven't downloaded the free KGR calculator, you should. It's free. It makes it a lot
4:48
easier and you can get the link in the description. I'm Doug Cunnington and you can subscribe
